Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations (ANHO) is excited to celebrate over 45 years of excellence. Since its inception, ANHO is proud to have educated and graduated over 10,000 nurses and healthcare workers. The school was established in 1978 by Lois Gackenheimer Richards, PhD Ed, MSN, RN. Dr. Richards serves as the President of the Board of Directors and is the driving force behind ANHO’s mission to teach unemployed and underemployed men and women of Palm Beach County the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to be employed in the healthcare profession. ANHO has received notification from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) that the ACEN Board of Commissioners has granted continuing accreditation with no findings. The PEER Evaluators were impressed with ANHO’s community relationships and identified these relationship as a strength.This has been a remarkable five years since ANHO’s initial accreditation. ANHO survived a worldwide pandemic without closing the school and continued to graduate students who entered the health care field during the pandemic. CONGRATULATIONS ANHO Faculty and Staff!In 2023, ANHO hosted a site visit by the Council on Occupational Education to reaffirm accreditation. COE found the institution in compliance with all 10 Standards of accreditation. Accreditation is only granted once an institution provides proof that it has met specific standards and acceptable levels of quality. ANHO is proud to celebrate the start of our 100th Practical Nursing class. We were honored to have Vice Mayor Maria Sachs speak along with our President Dr. Richards and Dean Asser. The milestone was covered by FOX29 reporter Kate Monahan. ANHO is proud to have a faculty member on staff from our first Practical Nursing class PN1. We celebrate this new class of students and applaud them for taking this important step towards an exciting future.
