Quarter 4, 2021 Student HEERF funding update.

  1. The Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations hereby acknowledges that we have signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that our institution has used the applicable HEERF funds designated under CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
  2. The total amount of funds that our institution has received from the Department, pursuant to our institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs, is $1,418,787.
  3. The Total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs as of the date of this submission is $1,418,787.
  4. The estimated total number of students that have been at the institution that are or were eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grant to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs is 1,140
  5. The estimated number of students who have received and Emergency Financial Aid Grant to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs is 1,140.
  6. The methods used by our institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs are as follows:
    1. In order to access funds, students must be enrolled as of the time of funds disbursement. The disbursement must be during the National COVID Emergency period. If a student has already graduated or dropped at the time of disbursement, they will not be eligible.
    2. When Grant funds have been exhausted, students will not be eligible.
    3. The maximum amount of money will not exceed the maximum 2021 Pell award that the Department of Education has set for students with an EFC of 0 when combining HEERF I, HEERF II, and HEERF III allocations. I.e. if a student received the high priority HEERF I of $910, high priority HEERF II of $1,000 and high priority HEERF III of $2,300, then their total allocation is $4,210 which does not exceed the maximum 2021 Pell grant award of $6,345.
    4. Student exceptional needs will be prioritized by using their eligibility for Pell Grants and their EFC as well as their eligibility to receive other federal or state needs based program funds. Students whose EFC is above 0 will be reviewed for Professional Judgement using the usual Professional Judgement documentation to support the student or family loss of income, food insecurity, or housing insecurity due to COVID-19 and as allowed in HEERF III guidance.
  7. Each student accepting Emergency Financial Aid signs an acknowledgement that the funds are to be used only for the following categories: Food, Housing, Health Care, Child Care, Tuition and Course Materials.

HEERF III

Policies for the student portion of funds allocated as supplemental HEERF lll emergency assistance to students.

  1. In order to access funds, students must be enrolled as of May 12, 2021 or after. The disbursement must be during the National COVID Emergency period. If a student has already graduated or dropped, at the time of disbursement, they will not be eligible.
  2. When funds have been exhausted students will not be eligible.
  3. The maximum amount of money will not exceed the maximum 2021 Pell award that the Department of Education has set for students with an EFC of 0 when combining HEERF I, HEERF ll, and HEERF Ill allocations. i.e. if a student received the high priority HEERF l of $910, high priority HEERF ll of $1,000 and high priority HEERF Ill of $2,300 their total allocation is $4,210 which does not exceed the maximum 2021 Pell grant award of $6,345.
  4. Money will not be used to entice students to enroll; therefore, if money is given to students it will only be after enrollment. If the student wishes to apply money towards tuition, the student must sign stating that it is their choice to apply Emergency Relief Act money towards tuition. They may not be coerced into doing so. Their signature must indicate that they have not been coerced and they are aware that it is their choice to apply the money to tuition.
  5. Student exceptional need will be prioritized by using their eligibility for Pell Grants and their EFC as well as their eligibility to receive other federal or state needs based program funds. Students whose EFC is above 0 will be reviewed for Professional Judgement using the usual Professional Judgement documentation to support the student or family loss of income, food insecurity, or housing insecurity due to COVID-19 and as allowed in HEERF Ill guidance.
  6. High priority students with exceptional need and an EFC of below $3,000 will be eligible for checks of $2,300. Students with an EFC above $3,000 will be a lower priority and eligible for checks of $1,500.
  7. Students accepting funds will do so in good faith effort to continue to successfully progress in their studies and use the funds as indicated, related to disruptions due to COVID-19, for food, housing, healthcare, or childcare.
  8. Evidenced based practices to monitor and prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as PPE, Plexiglas, UV purification systems in the Air conditioning units, cleaning, and vaccination efforts according to public health guidelines will be undertaken.d
  9. Funds will not be used for bank charges or stop payment fees.

HEERF II

Policies for the student portion of funds allocated as supplemental HEERF II Emergency Assistance.

  1. In order to access funds, student must be an active student at time of disbursement or after. If a student has already graduated or dropped, they will not be eligible.
  2. Money will not be used to entice students to enroll. Therefore, new classes and students enrolling after March 8, 2021 will not be included in the checks distributed directly to students.
  3. Students not eligible for Pell Grants will be considered Low Priority, and will receive a check for $400. 49 students received $400 checks.
  4. Students eligible for Pell Grants will be considered High Priority, and will receive a check for $1,000. 241 students received $1,000 checks.
  5. Students accepting funds will do so in a good faith effort to continue to successfully progress in their studies and use the funds in this manner.

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, authorized by the Corona Virus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, signed into law by President Donald J. Trump, provides for students to receive a cash grant for expenses related to disruptions to their education due to the COVID-19 outbreak. These funds are to be used only for the following purposes:

   Course Materials
   Food
   Housing
   Health Care or
   Child Care

The amount of each student’s check will vary depending upon your Pell Grant Eligibility. In order to receive your check, please sign that you agree to use these emergency funds only for the above listed purposes.

As of April 22, 2021 HEERF II funds have been disbursed to students. ANHO received $270,695 that was allocated to students and disbursed a total of $270,700 to 319 students.

  1. ANHO has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
  2. The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students is $270,695.
  3. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of submission is $293,890 (i.e. as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter)
  4. The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 359.
  5. The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to studentsunder Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 359.
  6. The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is determined by using the 19/20 estimated family income calculation (EFC) ratio.
