Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations (ANHO) is excited to celebrate over 45 years of excellence. Since its inception, ANHO is proud to have educated and graduated over 10,000 nurses and healthcare workers. The school was established in 1978 by Lois Gackenheimer Richards, PhD Ed, MSN, RN. Dr. Richards serves as the President of the Board of Directors and is the driving force behind ANHO’s mission to teach unemployed and underemployed men and women of Palm Beach County the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to be employed in the healthcare profession. ANHO is institutionally accredited by COE. Programs offered include Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (A.D.N), Practical Nursing Including IV Skills and Critical Thinking (PN), Patient Care Technician, Home Health Aide, Nurse Assistant and A.S.P.N.
Students attend local hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation and/or mental health facilities for clinical training to meet graduation requirements. ANHO allows its students time to learn in the Simulation Lab, which is a simulated hospital unit featuring four patient care rooms, triage and medication areas, as well as a nursing station. The lab is equipped with current technology, four human patient simulators and medical resources allowing students to practice assessment and demonstrate nursing skills and procedural techniques in a safe and realistic clinical setting. Each program requires students to participate in clinical hours as part of the curriculum.
ANHO students are taught the clinical skills and academic requirements necessary to be eligible to take certification and licensure exams for their desired occupations. In 2023, ANHO reached exceptional NCLEX-RN pass rates for the A.D.N program of 95.38% and NCLEX-PN pass rates for the PN program of 93.62%. Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations is looking forward to the next 45 years and is committed to serving the Palm Beach County community and providing a high-quality education for all nursing students and healthcare workers for many years to come.
